Even if you enjoy fishing it is difficult to find any real excitement in the murky waters of Trophy Bass.
Trophy Bass has been well researched and crafted, however. From extensive selections of bait (down to color, size, type) to a wide assortment of fishing spots, Trophy Bass offers many options for the avid fisherman (or woman!). You choose the method of your cast, the strength of your line and can also spray on some fish attractant.
It rains, becomes overcast and is sunny at various times. The weather is just like what you'd find on a real fishing trip. You have a trusty fish finder and there are plenty of different locales in which to fish such as shallow weed beds, deep drop offs, stumps and more.
One thing about Trophy Bass that is really weak is how easily you can see the fish while fishing in shallow waters. The fish stand out as huge dark shadows against the water, a condition rarely (if ever) found on one of my many fishing expeditions. Being able to actually see the fish underwater gave me the unfair advantage of knowing exactly where to cast. The game is as easy and as long as you'd like it to be.
Despite all the innovative options available, Trophy Bass is still boring.
Graphics: Nice menu screens. I don't like being able to 'see' the fish in the water 20 feet away from the boat though.
Sound: Nice ambient sounds and catchy music.
Enjoyment: Save it for a rainy day when there's nothing else to do.
Replay Value: Since there are really no goals (other than catching fish) the game can be replayed and replayed to your heart's content.
Trophy Bass is a fishing simulation. Choose your lure, reel, location, etc. and compete in the B.A.S.S. Masters tournament, star a career or just spend an afternoon at the lake of your choice. The game is played from a top-down "omniscient fisherman" perspective from where you hit the water and do whatever it takes to reel in everything in the water such as working the lure, to reeling in and out, etc. via mouse.
