In Geekwad: Games of the Galaxy the player takes control of the Geekwad Gamer, the best gamer in the universe. To win the game one has to free a king by getting the high score at five video games and trivia. All the games are parodies of classic arcade games like Spaced Solicitors (Space Invaders), Beefender (Defender), Phlegming (the name is like Lemmings but gameplay is closer to Joust), Grogger (Frogger), and more.

Want to play Space Invaders, Frogger, Defender, Joust and Trivial Pursuit all together in one BIG game? In that case you should certainly consider downloading "Geekwad Games of The Galaxy". The poor "King Wacky of the Wacky Funsters" has been kidnapped by evil Cybergeek and now it's up to you - a geek - to beat him in his games. As already said, these games are clones from the truest of all true classics:

Spaced Solicitors: Help grandma to get rid of all those wicked people that come to her door Beefender: Defend aliens from capturing your cows Phlegming: Play space golf with this cute little yellow animals that try to eat you Grogger: serve different meals to the customers on "the other side of the road", avoid pedestrians and do space junk hopping Earth Last: Collect various things falling down, before they hit mother earth Trivia: Answer some questions to well known space-topics

For each game you get a final score for which, if higher than Cybergeek's, you will be rewarded with a secret letter. After all 5 letters are collected, the lit of the kings prison-jar will be lifted and the detonation mechanism will be ready for manipulation. You will know how to dismantle the bomb when you answer three right questions in each trivia game.

"The story is annoying and the gameplay is not more than a copy of what we already know" - call it like that but still it's a lot of fun! These variations of our well known classics have a lot to offer and so I'd suggest we rather talk about a parody-tribute to them. The graphics are cool and the in-game characters are somewhat cute and made with a love for details. For controls you have the mouse and the keyboard which makes it very comfortable to play and use the menus.

What else can I say? Oh yes, the score ... I'd say give it 4 points! Why? Pros: + fun + good Gameplay + nice games + nice graphics Cons: - lame story

Try it! You won't regret it.

Geekwad Games of The Galaxy is a collection of outrageous arcade games that parody well-known computer games. Unfortunately, gameplay doesn't quite live up to the game's parody value, although there are some great sound effects and creative twists.

To its credit, the game does have a wacky plot to tie everything together: King Wacky of the Wacky Funsters empire has been captured and put in a rigged jar, and it's up to you (yes, you, the geek) to free him. You do this by beating evil Cybergeek's high scores in each of the five games, after which you will receive portion fo the secret code that will disarm the bomb. Each game is hosted by-- surprise!-- parodies of real-life celebrities, such as Buzz (Aldrin) and Isaac (Asimov). You can learn the rules of each game by talking to each host, as well as answer trivia to gain hints on how to free the king (it's more complicated than getting the secret code).

The games themselves are a mixed bag. Phlemmings and Beefender are only fun for a short while before becoming atrociously repetitive. Earth Last is a bit better due to better control scheme, and many new enemy types for each level (it's a side-scrolling shooter). The best games of the pack are Space Solicitors, a fun Space Invaders clone, and Grogger, a good Frogger with a lot of new twists. There's also Wobbie's Trivia, a decent trivia game with some interesting questions. Overall, Geekwad should please anyone who wants something a little different, although it's by no means a classic. Only the truly patient action fans will persevere through the indeterminably long levels to see the ending sequence.
