Trugg is a Boulder Dash-type game where you play a robot (Trugg). You must collect all the treasures on each level, making sure that neither they nor you are destroyed. Then, you must reach the door. You use the arrow keys/joystick to move around or operate switches.

Some squares are edible. Eating them can clear paths for objects, which are otherwise blocked by the squares. The treasures are required for completion of the level, as the door will only open when you've collected them all. Guns are capable of destroying most objects, and like forcefields, can be turned off. Lifts carry things up and down, one-way arrows are self-explanatory, and walls can block you in or out. Guardians walk around the levels (sticking to the left), and if they touch you, you die.

The game is split into different zones, which you can create or edit. Each zone contains some levels, typically 20 of them. The zones are stored in the .LVL, .FIN, .MAP and .NME files, which can be copied and distributed.

You can play any level you want in the Level Editor, but as the normal version allows you to go through the door to win, you can never properly win in the Level Editor; you will eat the door instead. The creators of this game (Digital Workshop) made 7 zones, with 117 levels in total. There have been other zones made that I haven't been able to find.

There are some glitches in the game, including one that allows Trugg to eat guardians, create doors, and disappear, but I'll leave it to you to work out how to induce this.

I rate this game 8/10, as it's addictive, creative, and has great potential as a shareable game; also, because I haven't played many DOS games, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
