Titanic: Dare to Discover delivers a speculative account of what may have happened to the most famous ship in history. Myst-like screen-to-screen movement takes you deep into the bowels of an underwater ancient city as you explore mystical environments filled with passageways, puzzles, and secret doorways. Discover artifacts and decipher strange symbols as you gather clues surrounding the Amulet of the Abyss.
Gameplay is completely controlled through a point-and-click interface with management of inventory items and objects. Locales include several labyrinths with multiple entrances, a cemetery, the Titanic shipwreck, and various buildings with puzzles involving manipulation of levers, objects, patterns, and cryptic writing. During play, an in-game help system can be accessed via a drop down menu bar at the top of the screen that reveals clues and hints for a dozen puzzles and locations. Although some freedom in exploration is allowed, access to most locations requires solving a puzzle in this linear adventure.
Having virtually nothing whatsoever to do with the eponymous ship (it never appears in the game!), apparently recent scientific observations near the wreck have revealed the presence of a mysterious undersea village which may have special mystical powers. Discovering an amulet nearby, you dive down to the village to uncover its secret and find out if it played a part in the sinking of the Titanic.
