In the third installment of Ishar you can import characters both from Ishar or Ishar 2.
Now you have to travel through Portals of Time to pursuit of the dragon of Sith, last survivor of the Great Black Dragons. Exploring the magic lands, joining the allies and fighting the enemies you must protect the Citadel.
The Ishar games are probably Silmarils' most succesful productions. Combining great graphics, a very large gameworld, different teammembers (with their own quests and goals!) and a whole lot of gameplay in one package. You can import characters both from Ishar or Ishar 2 into this game.
This game takes of right after the end of part 2. In part 2 you and your brave party destroyed an evil being called Shandar. Though, of course, he is not dead yet! As an astral spirit he is trying to alter time in order to take control of the Black Dragon of Sith. Your task is to make sure the dragon is dead before Shandar can reach it. Along the way of your quest you will find lots of puzzles and sidequests. Some with alternate solutions. You'll find new partymembers, all with their own ideals, personalities and quests. And last but not least, lots of great weapons and armors.
While playing this game briefly, I was suprised at how the game looks. It looks great! Nice photorealistic characters in game, great building textures, all in all it looks impressive. Combat is about the same way as in most older rpg's. Click and slash so to speak. I noticed the game has no map outside the city you start in. Rather annoying for a game with such a sheer size as this one. Further I found out it's a pretty tough game. Enemies are strong and you are pretty pathetic for someone who saved the earth before. I'm pretty confident the balance will be better later in the game though. Anyway, if you are in the mood for a good looking old school rpg, be sure to check it out!
The Ishar series is undoubtedly Silmarils' most successful games, and rightly so. Silmarils touted Ishar I when it was released in 1992 as "a new benchmark for RPG"-- a bold statement that turns out to be quite accurate: all 3 games boast exceptional 3D graphics for their times, huge gameworld, alternate solutions to puzzles, and-- best of all-- different personalities and goals of your party members that make gameplay tenfold more colorful and fun. Ishar III is the best of the series, combining the mundane kill-the-bad-guys-in-Ishar plot with time travel elements. Highly recommended.
