Shank is a side-scrolling combat game that features two-player co-op action and a heavy dose of stylish violence influenced by modern action movies. Solo gamers take control of Shank, a mysterious protagonist whose revenge saga is gradually illuminated as he takes on some of the criminal underworld's deadliest assassins. The goal of the combat is to string together attacks using a variety of different deadly weapons, including dual pistols, a shotgun, a chainsaw, and a knife. The co-op mode serves as a prequel to the main plot, as two players can team up locally to guide Shank and his friend Falcone on missions that shed more light on the tragedy that eventually befalls the titular protagonist.
