Your task in this arcade conversion is to guide a frog across a treacherous road and river, and to safety at the top of the screen. Both these sections are fraught with a variety of hazards, each of which will kill the frog and cost you a life if contact is made.
The road is full of cars and trucks, at variable speeds. The river water itself is fatal, as are the snakes which hover within on later levels. Frogger must use the arrangement of logs, turtles (which are only there for a short time) and alligators (but stay away form their faces), and then jump into one of the open home-cells, ideally one containing a fly for extra points. Once all holes have been filled, you move onto the next, harder, level.
I'm sure you all know this little addictive title. The game was simple. You're a frog (hence the title Frogger) and you need to get to your hiding place. To do that you need to cross the street and a river.
Crossing the street means avoid getting run over by moving vehicles. Crossing the river means you need to hop from turtles, to logs in order to reach the safe haven on the other side. If there's a fly inside you'll get additional score, but if there's a wolf inside you'll get eaten.
If you hit anything (the wall or a car) you die. If you stay on turtles for too long they'll submerge and you'll drown (same thing if you simply jump in the water). You're obviously a non-swimming frog. You can however collect little frogs on tree logs. That can even get you an extra life.
Once all the empty spaces on the other side are filled, you'll move on to the next level. The cars are faster, there are crocs swimming in the river (careful not to jump in one's mouth) and later on ever worms appear, that chase you all over the place. So good luck getting pass level 6.
The tune in the background is just as addictive as the game, but the controls are strange. You have the A/Z to move up and down and '/` to move left and right. Now it's time to finally have some fun!
What a weird but at the same time ingenious game! Just good old arcade-style. You play a frog (you wouldn't have guessed!) and your task is to cross the street and the river to reach that delicious flys and have it for dinner. On the street you have to avoid the natural enemy of all frogs: cars! When you finally crossed that dangerous part and come to the river - where you of course feel a little more at home - you have to cross it by jumping logs and some animals I can't identify. Well, needless to say that those are moving (would be too easy otherwise, wouldn't it?), so you need some skill! All time classical game.
This classic arcade game was brought to DOS in 1983, two years after it was first invented. The game is simple: make it across the street without becoming road kill, then make it across the river onto one of five openings. Once all five spots are filled, you move on to the next level. The levels are all similar or at least the ones I have played in are. You have five lives and there is a time limit. A bar near the bottom of the screen that gets smaller and smaller indicates how much time you have left.
One of the well known games ever. This is one of the first official frogger games made for the PC. The point of the game is to get to the other side of the road without dying.
